Hotel El Ganzo is one of my favorite hotels in Los Cabos.
It is also one of those properties that surprises you.
You can look at photos before you arrive, but somehow they don't completely prepare you for the hotel itself. The architecture is predominantly white, almost like a canvas, and then art starts appearing everywhere.
Art is part of El Ganzo in many different forms. You see it in paintings, murals, sculptures, and pieces throughout the hotel, but you also experience it through music. El Ganzo has its own recording studio, and music is very much part of the hotel's personality.
From different areas of the hotel, you can enjoy views of the Sea of Cortez, the marina, the estuary, and the mountains. And from the Rooftop, you can see them all.
That combination of art, music, nature, and the setting is a big part of what makes Hotel El Ganzo weddings so special to me.
This wedding venue is an adults-only hotel for guests 18 and older. For a full hotel buyout, children can be accommodated.
Why I Like El Ganzo for Destination Weddings
El Ganzo is a boutique hotel with only 69 rooms and suites, which works particularly well for Los Cabos destination weddings, whether you are considering a full hotel buyout or a room block.
Over the years, I have worked with El Ganzo in different ways, from full hotel buyouts with the wedding taking place at the property to room blocks with one or two wedding events at El Ganzo and the main celebration at another venue.
For a full buyout, around 120 guests can comfortably stay at the hotel. Because El Ganzo is not a large property, having the entire hotel for your guests creates a more intimate feeling throughout the wedding weekend.
The rooms are beautiful too, with contemporary design, natural textures, Baja details, and art throughout the property.
For the wedding day, I especially like the penthouses for getting-ready sessions. They give us plenty of space for hair and makeup, photography, and the wedding party to be together comfortably.

The Rooftop
The Rooftop is one of my favorite spaces at El Ganzo.
The moment the elevator doors open, the space is breathtaking. The infinity pool immediately catches your attention, with a unique glass detail within the pool that adds another unexpected element to the space.
The terrace is spacious, with beautiful views, and is a spectacular setting for welcome cocktails or for the wedding reception. Depending on the celebration, we can use the space in different ways.
The Beach Club and Event Spaces by the Water
One of the things I really love about El Ganzo is its Beach Club, located on a swimmable beach.
Getting there is part of the experience. My favorite way is the little boat that takes you from the hotel across the marina in just a couple of minutes.
Another option is to take one of the hotel's bicycles and ride around the marina, where you can see paintings and sculptures along the way.
Once there, there are three different areas we can consider for wedding events: the Jetty, the Deck, and the beach.
The Jetty is one of the most iconic spaces at El Ganzo for ceremonies and receptions. It is a long grassy area lined with palm trees, with plenty of space to create different layouts.

The Deck, connected to the restaurant, gives us another option for events by the water, while the beach can also become part of the celebration.
Guests can also spend a morning or afternoon here swimming, having lunch, relaxing in a cabana, and enjoying the beach.

Between the Rooftop, Jetty, Deck, and beach, there are several ways we can plan a wedding at El Ganzo.
There isn't one combination that works for every wedding. Guest count, logistics, budget, and the atmosphere you want to create all play a role.
Once we understand the experience you want, we can look at the different possibilities, visualize how guests will move from one part of the celebration to another, and determine which combination makes the most sense for your wedding.
Food and Hospitality at El Ganzo
Food is important to many of the couples I work with. They travel, enjoy amazing culinary experiences, and care about the quality of the food their guests will experience during the wedding.
The food at El Ganzo is delicious.
Something I appreciate just as much is the hospitality. The staff is warm, friendly, and very service-oriented. They are used to weddings, work well with planners, and allow us to work with outside vendors.
From a planner's perspective, all of that makes a difference.
Another detail I really appreciate is that El Ganzo hosts only one wedding per day. Your wedding is the wedding of the day, and I think that is special.
Close to the Heart of San José del Cabo
El Ganzo is not located along the Tourist Corridor. It is in La Playita, within the Puerto Los Cabos marina area and close to the heart of San José del Cabo.
Downtown San José is a short drive away, with its galleries, restaurants, local shops, and seasonal Art Walk. Acre Resort and Flora Farms are also nearby, giving you additional options for a welcome dinner or another event during the wedding weekend.
And because El Ganzo is directly on the marina, a boat day works particularly well for groups staying here. I have organized boat experiences for wedding groups at the hotel, and having the marina right there makes it a natural addition to the weekend.
A Hotel Connected to Its Community
Something I particularly appreciate about El Ganzo is that it gives back to the community around it.
Through La Playa Centro Comunitario, there are programs that support local children and families through art, education, and other initiatives. The hotel also has environmental and recycling programs and is B Corp certified.
For me, this matters. I appreciate working with a hotel that creates a beautiful experience for its guests while also caring about the environment and contributing to the community it is part of.
A Few Things That Are Good to Know
For outdoor weddings in Los Cabos, I normally recommend the period from around mid-October through the end of June. Summer and early fall are hotter and more humid and coincide with Los Cabos' tropical storm and hurricane season.
And, of course, we always consider Plan B. At El Ganzo, the lobby, combined with the restaurant area, gives us an indoor alternative if the weather requires us to move the celebration.
Outdoor music at El Ganzo ends at 11:00 p.m., something we consider from the beginning when creating the wedding timeline. For couples who would like to continue celebrating later, we can explore different options for an after-party and build that transition into the flow of the evening.
