Every wedding brings its challenges, but there’s nothing more rewarding than creating unique celebrations that reflect the couple’s personality. Lauren and Sam came to Momentos with a clear vision: a garden-style wedding in Cabo that was fresh, outdoors, and featured breathtaking views. With this idea in mind, we worked to design an “I DO” that surprised everyone with boho and elegant touches. You’re going to love their story!
The Love Story and Proposal
Lauren shared how she and Sam met through her best friend, Lindsey, who lived in her apartment building. One summer night, Lindsey invited her over, saying, “You’re going to love my friend Sam.” And she was absolutely right.
When it came time to propose, Sam planned something unforgettable. He arranged a private tour of the MLS soccer stadium and proposed to Lauren right on the field. A photographer captured every moment, and they even had an engagement shoot there. To top it off, Sam planned a surprise party with close family and friends at a nearby brewery, followed by an intimate dinner.
Planning a Garden-Style Wedding
From the moment I met Lauren and Sam, I was drawn to their story and their warm, genuine personalities. Both are laid-back, cheerful, and kind. Cabo was an obvious choice for their wedding destination since it had become one of their favorite vacation spots and was convenient for most of their guests traveling from Texas.
Their priorities were clear: stunning ocean views, a fun atmosphere, stress-free events, and great food and drinks. My goal was to bring their dream wedding to life while highlighting their style and preferences in the design, color palette, and entertainment.
The monthly video calls with Lauren and Sam became one of my favorite parts of the planning process. Not only did we progress on the wedding details, but I also connected with them personally, celebrating their wins and supporting them through challenges.
Lauren started a new job and moved houses during the planning, which made things more complex. That’s why understanding the couple and prioritizing their needs is so important to me and the whole Momentos team.
The Design
Flowers played a big role in the design of this garden-style wedding. They brought color to the minimalist decor. The neutral color palette, paired with chocolate accents, created a trendy, elegant, and slightly boho vibe. It was fresh, stylish, and perfectly matched Lauren and Sam’s vision.
The I DO
One of the best things about destination weddings in Cabo is the chance to add unique experiences to the celebration. Lauren and Sam started their wedding weekend with a rehearsal dinner on the beach at Hacienda del Mar, an incredible venue. This event was formal yet fun, featuring Mexican food, tequila shots, lively music, and amazing panoramic views. Of course, the evening was beautifully captured in photos and video.
On the wedding day, Lauren got ready with her bridal party at Hacienda del Mar. The girls wore custom outfits, toasted with mimosas, and enjoyed every moment leading up to the big event.
The first look was one of my favorite parts of the day. Lauren and Sam shared a private, heartfelt moment with only the cameras watching. It was followed by lovely family portraits, ensuring all their loved ones were part of the memories.
The ceremony was magical, with guitarist Alonso Aguirre setting the perfect tone. For the processional, Sam and his family entered to “Inspiración” by Gipsy Kings, while Lauren walked down the aisle to “Love y Liberté” by the same group. The recessional was accompanied by “Entre Dos Aguas” by Paco de Lucía.
After the ceremony, guests enjoyed a cocktail hour on the Panorama Terrace at Sunset Monalisa, taking in the incredible views. As the sun set, the staff performed a special ritual to mark the moment, and Lauren and Sam shared heartfelt words of gratitude before dinner.

The dinner menu was a highlight of the evening. Guests savored California bistro salad, lobster bisque en croûte, horseradish-crusted filet mignon, porcini and portobello mushroom ravioli, and passionfruit pot de crème for dessert. Signature drinks included a passionfruit margarita (his) and a spicy margarita (hers).
Following dinner, Lauren and Sam cut their wedding cake, a stunning creation by the chef at Sunset Monalisa. The evening transitioned into a lively celebration with tropical music and dancing. One of the standout moments was Lauren’s outfit change into a short, sparkly dress, perfect for continuing the party in downtown Cabo San Lucas.

This wedding was all about good vibes, seamless communication, and the warmth of family support. A heartfelt thanks to Lauren’s mom, Jill, whose support and presence added so much to the planning journey.
Everything came together to create an unforgettable celebration, and the memories of this wedding will always hold a special place in my heart.
