Mackenzie & Scott: An Intimate, Timeless Wedding at Four Seasons Costa Palmas

May 27, 2025

Some weddings stay with you because of their impeccable style. Others because of the energy you feel in every detail. Mackenzie and Scott’s wedding at Four Seasons Costa Palmas had both—and it was a joy to bring it to life.

They came to us with a clear vision: a small, elegant wedding with a calm and intentional atmosphere. From the very beginning, it was clear that this couple cared deeply about creating something meaningful, not just beautiful. And Four Seasons Costa Palmas was the perfect setting for that.

Located about an hour away from the San José del Cabo airport, Four Seasons Costa Palmas is tucked away in a private community along the East Cape. It’s one of the most exclusive and secluded venues in the region, surrounded by natural beauty, soft golden beaches, and the Sea of Cortez. The location is remote, which means planning needs to be especially thoughtful and precise—but that’s also what makes it so special…

Welcome Event

The celebration began with a sunset welcome party by the beach—relaxed, stylish, and full of heart. Mackenzie wanted this event to feel true to who they are: intentional, effortless, and elevated. One of the most unique touches was the conscious bar, a non-alcoholic cocktail experience served from a vintage VW combi van. It was playful and chic, and the drinks were crafted with such creativity—non-alcoholic tequilas, vodkas, and whiskeys mixed into bold, flavorful cocktails, each finished with creative g…

Guests were welcomed with a menu that set the tone for the celebration: spicy tuna tartar mini cones, octopus ceviche tostadas, grilled prawn and bacon skewers, and crispy chicken tinga tacos.

The mariachi, which was so important to the bride, created a warm, joyful atmosphere as the sun set over the water. Guests enjoyed delicious appetizers, and the couple had a relaxed portrait session on the beach. The entire evening felt effortless and beautifully aligned with who they are.

The Ceremony

The next day, the wedding ceremony took place on a different part of the beach. The couple wanted a fresh atmosphere and a different view for each phase of the celebration.

They chose to see each other for the first time during the ceremony, which made the moment incredibly emotional —not just for them, but for everyone present. The altar was a bold, asymmetrical statement piece made entirely of baby’s breath—simple in palette but sculptural in form. In such an intimate setting with just 40 guests, this design became the emotional and visual centerpiece of the ceremony.

Cocktail Hour

After the ceremony, guests were guided to the cocktail hour area. There were more crafted mocktails & signature cocktails. While Mackenzie and Scott had their portraits taken, guests enjoyed a setting that felt curated and open.

Reception & Design Highlights

As the sun set, we moved to the final space: a terrace with sweeping mountain views, where the dinner and reception would take place. Here, we leaned into the couple’s minimalist style—elegant, understated, and thoughtful.

Guests were welcomed with a statement seating chart, which added a modern design element at the entrance. We opted for round tables, which created a more intimate and balanced layout. Each table was styled with neutral linens, cylinder candles, and delicate floral accents that complemented the aesthetic without overpowering it.

The couple’s sweetheart table was framed by the same bold altar we had used for the ceremony—repurposed to give continuity and dimension to the overall design. One of the elements that truly stood out was the custom mirror backdrop for photos. It added a fun and unexpected twist while still feeling elegant and cohesive with the rest of the design. Overhead, a twinkle tent cast a soft, magical glow on the entire celebration.

Dinner was refined and beautifully presented, with options like filet mignon, chicken breast with mole rosa, and a stuffed poblano pepper as the vegetarian entrée—a thoughtful menu that blended elegance with subtle local flavor.

How We Tailored Every Detail

One of the things I loved most about working with Mackenzie was how clear she was about the kind of elegance she wanted: something timeless, minimalist, and classy, but with standout moments that felt intentional and personal.

The altar was one of the most important design elements for her. She didn’t want something overloaded or traditional—she wanted a statement piece that felt fresh and modern, yet still elegant. We created a bold, asymmetrical altar using only baby’s breath. To elevate the moment even more—literally—we built a custom platform that gave height to the ceremony and made the couple feel beautifully framed.

For the reception, we continued with the clean, refined aesthetic. We focused on cylindrical candles as the main design element and added modern white vases with a single white rose—a nod to classic elegance with a modern sensibility. It was about doing less, but doing it well.

And to tie everything together, the stationery played a key role. The suite was designed in neutral tones with a clean, modern layout. The menus had a subtle black bows—a current trend we loved for its simplicity—and the table numbers were crafted in solid marble, adding just the right amount of visual weight and texture.

A fundamental part of our process is taking the time to truly listen to each couple, understanding what they envision and value. From there, we begin the curation journey, selecting the right vendors, narrowing down the style direction, and defining the full look and feel of the event. That includes everything: the venue, floral design, rentals, stationery, the guest dress code, the bride’s gown, and of course, the bouquet.

Conscious Touches & Trends

This destination wedding was a beautiful example of what I call intentional minimalism. Every design decision had a reason. Every element added something meaningful—not just visual impact. The result? A wedding that felt calm, elegant, and completely personalized.

The neutral dress code brought visual harmony without ever feeling forced. The non-alcoholic bar redefined what it means to celebrate in style and offered a new kind of connection. And having a content creator on-site allowed us to capture the candid, spontaneous moments—the in-betweens that matter just as much as the planned highlights.

Some of our favorite destination wedding trends were reflected here:

  • Minimal floral design with strong aesthetic impact.
  • Neutral, elegant dress codes.
  • Conscious experiences that feel as good as they look.
  • Multi-space flow to create dynamic transitions.
  • Emotional moments that take priority over production.

Planning a wedding at Four Seasons Costa Palmas requires care, precision, and a deep understanding of working with a secluded, high-end location. But when everything aligns, it becomes one of the most breathtaking and exclusive places to celebrate love in Los Cabos.
