Rachel & Chris: A Fun and Romantic Cabo Boat Wedding

November 28, 2025

The very first time I spoke with Rachel, I felt a genuine connection. Her vision was simple but powerful — she wanted to say her vows on the ocean, aboard the Pelican Boat. Not a tour, not an excursion — a real boat wedding on the water. Pelican has a modern, sophisticated look, with a layout that works perfectly for the ceremony space at the bow and gives guests plenty of room to enjoy the experience from every angle.

When Rachel shared the idea, I immediately knew it could become something unforgettable. Rachel was classic and romantic by nature, and her design sensitivity guided every decision. She wanted guests to step on board and feel the atmosphere — flowers, draping, soft touches — something intimate, personal, and meaningful.

That intention shaped the entire planning process.

Some weddings are built from one clear idea. For Rachel and Chris, it was romance and simplicity with a memorable setting — flowers, ocean, movement, and a celebration that felt different from a traditional venue. They were upbeat, easygoing, and fun to work with. Their request was straightforward: if this was happening on a boat, it needed to look and feel like a wedding — not just a boat ride. So we designed the entire Cabo boat Wedding experience around that feeling.

Planning a Wedding on a Boat

The original plan was for a 30-guest celebration, which later grew to 45 — still intimate and personal. Their priorities were clear from day one: beautiful florals, a warm atmosphere, and a wedding-feeling from the moment guests stepped onboard.

Because the celebration took place at sea, everything was planned with intention so the setup remained beautiful and functional as it moved on the water. When the boat sailed, everything held perfectly, and the day flowed smoothly — relaxed, happy, and exactly as they hoped.

Before the boat day, they hosted a beach day at Corazón Beach Club and a welcome dinner at Mango Deck. After the celebration, the closest friends continued at Taboo. A mix of ocean + land, casual + romantic, fun + meaningful — the perfect Cabo balance.

Designing a Boat Wedding

Rachel loved a soft, classic, romantic look. We built the ceremony deck on the bow of Pelican 17, lining the rails with blush and white florals to create a floating aisle. Light draping added movement and warmth, and ceramic bases with neutral tones tied everything together. It looked like a wedding first — and a boat second — just as they imagined.

The color palette remained soft and delicate: blush, white, and touches of green. Each arrangement was designed with movement in mind and secured carefully so everything stayed intact through waves, breeze, and sailing conditions.

The I Do

The wedding morning took place at Corazón Cabo, where both Rachel and Chris got ready with their group staying on the property. For her getting-ready session, Rachel did her own hair and makeup, keeping her look natural, fresh, and very her. Their first look happened on the rooftop, with ocean views and a calm moment just for them before boarding.

From there, everyone transferred to Pelican Boat for the celebration at the sea — vows at the bow, tacos, cocktails, music, and dancing. Sunset was especially important to the groom, so we timed the day’s flow around the golden light.

Their first dance happened at sunset, when the boat was already sailing — warm sky, soft breeze, and a moment that felt simple and special.

The atmosphere throughout the evening was relaxed, joyful, and energetic.

Guest Experience + Tips for Boat Weddings in Los Cabos

Their guests loved the experience — casual, romantic, light, and fun. Sailing past Land’s End, one of the most iconic views in Los Cabos, made the moment even more memorable. Many mentioned it was their first time attending a boat wedding — and that made it unforgettable.

If you’re planning something similar, here are helpful tips:

Think about the food experience

  • If you’ll end the night on land, reserve dinner afterwards.
  • If the full event is on the boat, consider upgrading the onboard menu.
  • For their boat wedding reception, Rachel and Chris chose a taco bar and a cake cutting, which worked perfectly.

Consider setup time

  • Boat setup is not like a land venue — installation is booked by the hour.
  • The more florals or draping you want, the more time you need for setup.

Choose décor that works with movement

  • Boats move with waves and wind. Floral design must be secure, stable, and adaptable.

Dress comfortably

  • Light fabrics, shorter veils, and block heels or flats work best on deck.

Timing matters — especially for sunset

  • A first look (like they had at Corazón Cabo) gives flexibility for golden hour.

Keep transportation simple

  • One meeting point for boarding avoids confusion. Corazón Cabo was perfect for this group.

Why Boat Weddings Are So Special

  • Private boat: exclusively for your group.
  • Cinematic Cabo sunlight + the best sunsets.
  • Ocean as your backdrop while sailing by Land’s End.
  • Modern, playful energy that feels unique and fresh.
  • Unique by nature. And that uniqueness is what everyone feels on board.

For Rachel and Chris, it was the perfect way to celebrate: meaningful, stylish, and true to who they are.
